Al Cowlings Net Worth $250,000

Al Cowlings grew up in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill, and went to the Galileo High School, where he started playing football. Later, he studied at the City College of San Francisco and then transferred to the University of Southern California, where he was named an All-American defensive tackle in 1969, after the Trojans had an undefeated season.

The Buffalo Bills selected Cowlings as the 5th pick overall in the 1970 NFL Draft, and he was a starting linebacker there in his first seasons before being traded to the Houston Oilers in 1973, where he appeared in every game in both 1973 and 1974. However, Cowlings played in only five matches during the 1975 season, when he represented the Los Angeles Rams. After the season was over, the Seattle Seahawks claimed Cowlings off the waiver wire, but he only played a single game before returning to Los Angeles in 1977. Al Cowlings ended his pro football career with the San Francisco 49ers in 1979.

Cowlings is also well-known as a longtime friend and former teammate of O.J. Simpson, with whom he played at Galileo, San Francisco City, USC, the Bills, and the 49ers. Al was the one who drove the 1993 model Ford Bronco, which was chased by the police on Los Angeles freeways with the then infamous O.J. – charged with murder -as his passenger, covered by helicopter cameras and watched by 95 million people in the US alone. Al was charged with a felony for aiding a fugitive, but after bail of $250,000 was paid, he was released from custody the same day.

During Simpson’s trial, Cowlings conducted the press conference and hired Edward Lozzi & Associates firm to assist. There was speculation that Cowlings earned over $1 million, thanks to the $2-dollars-plus-a-minute ‘phone number he created.

Regarding his personal life, Al Cowlings stayed under the radar following Simpson’s trial, and he was last seen in public outside Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills in 2007, as Fox News reported. The most intimate information about him such as marital status and the number of children is unknown, as he successfully manages to keep out of the public eye.
